The indecisive Cleveland rapper took to Twitter this week to announce another change to the name of his rock band with producer Dot da Genius, as well as a release date for their debut.
The new name is W Z R D.
“News update! Me and @DotDaGenius are no longer called 2 Be Continuum. The world will call us W Z R D, which is short for WIZARD,” Cudi wrote (@WizardCud).
Back in April, Cudi changed the name from Wizard to 2 Be Continuum, while also announcing the launch of his own Wicked Awesome Records. Four months later, the rapper broke fans’ hearts when he said he had scrapped a mixtape he promised to release, titled A Man Named Scott, adding that the anticipated Wizard project was on its way … and expected before the end of the year.
But plans have changed once again, now Cudi is pushing things back further. He now plans to drop it in January to coincide with his 28th birthday
“The title of the album is still undetermined… And heres the biggest news, the official release date will be January 30, my birthday,” he wrote on Twitter this week. “Had to push it back to get the proper time to mix and master, want it to sonically be where it needs to be. For your smoke sesh enjoyment!”
Additionally, Cudi revealed one other tidbit about the project — it won’t contain any profanity.
“Also, the WZRD album does not contain any profanity or the usage of the word ‘n****’. A universal album for everyone,” he explained.
When some of his fans complained, he quipped, “Some of yall listen to so much ignorant sh** that thats all you know or are accustomed to. My fans are smart, I know yall better then this.”
