INDIANAPOLIS –

National reports say the Indianapolis Colts and quarterback Peyton Manning are parting ways.

ESPN analyst Chris Mortensen reports that sources close to the Colts will announce the move at a press conference Wednesday. Eyewitness Sports Director Dave Calabro has also confirmed through his sources that a press conference will be held Wednesday.

Several former players and sources with the team have also confirmed the report.

The ESPN report says both Manning and Colts owner Jim Irsay will attend Wednesday’s press conference.

The team has a deadline of 4 p.m. Thursday to decide if they will pay him a $28 million bonus or release the quarterback. Manning has reportedly declined requests to restructure his contract or retire.

Manning, a four-time NFL MVP, was drafted by the Colts in 1998, leading the team to two Super Bowls, including the Super Bowl XLI title in 2007.
