“I tore my vocal cords, basically. I had polyps on it and I tore it because I was doing a lot of yelling at my show. And it kind of took me off my grind for like a year because I couldn’t speak for six months, seven months. Then, I had surgery and it took me another three months to learn how to speak again. So, imagine laying in your bed not knowing if you’ll be able to do what you can do. And the whole world talking and wanting you, and you gotta lay low. Ain’t much you can say. But it’s good now. I’m back, though. Better than ever, by the way.

“It was a whole process because I’m in a house full of kats, and I had to get a vocal coach. So, I had to hum some things and sing some things–that ain’t what you wanna do in front of your homeboys while you trynna warm up and get your voice back. So, it was a little difficult, but I kind of thugged my way through it. And it worked out for me.”
