*The executives with the NFL announced Tuesday that the opening game in September will be moved so that it will not conflict with the president’s convention speech. That’s a big deal.

The NFL felt it most important to respect Obama’s scheduled speech at the Democratic National Convention scheduled for Thursday Sept. 6, the normal night the kickoff game take place.

Instead, the NY Giants, the reigning Super Bowl champs, will host the opening game one day earlier on Wednesday night Sept. 6 at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The schedule change isn’t the first time the league has been involved with schedule changes. In Sept. 2011, the president actually moved his jobs speech up an hour earlier so fans could tune into both.
