North Carolina rapper/producer J. Cole is back with a new single off his second album. Titled “Miss America,” the song finds Jermaine Cole getting more introspective than he’s been on previous records. The Roc Nation signee asks himself is he about the superficiality or substance. His internal tug-o-war is exemplified with lines like, “Am I about dollars or about change? Am I about knowledge or about brains?”

Produced by J. Cole, “Miss America” is the lead single off J. Cole’s sophomore project Born Sinner. The single was released on the second anniversary of his excellent mixtape Friday Night Lights. Similar to “Miss America,” Cole’s album Born Sinner will be released on a date special to the rapper. Born Sinner is slated to drop on january 28, 2013 which happens to be J. Cole’s 28th birthday.
