Charges against a Bronx cab driver who was arrested for beating his wife’s attacker to death have now been dropped, NBC reports.

Mamadou Diallo was charged with manslaughter after he beat his wife’s would-be rapist, Earl Nash, to death with a tire iron in May.

At the urging of the Nash family, charges were dropped during a Wednesday court appearance.

“We truly believe that both the Nash and the Diallo family have suffered a great deal of pain as a result of (the attack),” the Nash family wrote, according to the New York Daily News.

“While we cannot undue the damage that was done that evening, we hope to bring some closure not only to our family but to the Diallo family as well. As such, we wholeheartedly recommend … dismiss(ing) all charges against Mamadou Diallo,” the letter concluded.

Nash, who has a long rap sheet and history of mental illness, reportedly forced his way into the Diallo home and exposed himself to Nenegale Diallo, who was alone, before ripping her clothes off.

After fighting him off, the frantic wife called her husband. The 61-year-old rushed home, and surveillance footage shows Diallo hitting Nash with the tire iron.

It was determined Nash died from a fracture in his skull during the altercation.

Diallo was arrested on site, but was later released.

Once charges were dropped, Diallo had this to say to Nash’s relatives: “I make condolences to the family of the guy who is dead. My religion doesn’t allow me to kill somebody. I don’t want to kill.”
