Gabrielle Union is reportedly suing BET after the network tried to cram 20 episodes into a single season “in order to fraudulently extend the term of” her contract, a lawsuit filed on Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court claims.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, BET’s then-general counsel Darrell Walker assured Union the network would produce no more than 13 episodes per season after she showed hesitation to sign on to the project in the first place. However, a company provision required her performer agreement to include a minimum of 10 episodes and a maximum of 26.

Union’s attorney Martin Singer claims the network is trying to combine both seasons to avoid paying the Birth Of A Nation actress’ contractual raise. It was in Union’s contract for her to receive $150,000 per episode for season four and $165,000 per episode for season five.

She is seeking $1 million in damages.
