Drake and Trey Songz hit the Best Buy Theater stage in New York City last night (Oct. 5) to celebrate the new “So Kodak” campaign and Kodak Easyshare Digital cameras. Pitbull, who is the third spokesman on the campaign, was a no-show due to a broken hand.
After a video of Pitbull displayed on the big screen in which he explained his absence and showed off his cast, Trey Songz, dressed in tuxedo pants and a black button-up, kicked off the night with chart hits “Invented Sex,” “Say Ahh” and “Neighbors Know My Name.” He also performed newer tracks “Can’t Be Friends” and “Bottoms Up,” stating, “Somebody just said ‘take your shirt off.’ But If Imma take my shirt off you gotta take your bottoms up,” before launching into the latter.
Like Trey, Drake appeared in a promo that showed off the features of his Kodak digital camera before taking the stage: “They’ve made it easy for me to share all of my moments on the road with you,” the rapper said of Kodak.
Sporting a gray sweater, black t-shirt and jeans, Drake performed “Thank Me Later” favorites like “Up All Night” and “Show Me a Good Time” before dedicating “Right Above It” to his incarcerated mentor, Lil Wayne.
Before the invite-only event took off, celebrities like Busta Rhymes, Keri Hilson, Shontelle and Vado walked the red carpet in anticipation of the performances. NFL players like the Jets’ Darrell Revis and Giants’ Ramses Barden also came along for the festivities.
At the end of the show, another video was aired — this time revealing the newest spokesperson of the campaign: Rihanna. Sporting her new fire-red hairdo, Rihanna said she regretted not being in NY to celebrate with the guys but that she would definitely join them next time.
