So, Busta Rhymes went to high school with Notorious BIG and Jay-Z, and that is something you maybe probably knew. And also, according to Busta, he lost a serious rap battle to Jay-Z in high school.
As aspiring musicians, Busta and Jay-Z often engaged in rap competitions in the school cafeteria, although the former has admitted he wasn’t as fast or witty as his rival during their first battle despite giving it his all. “He kind of got the best of the situation. I got to give it up. He was so ill and his arsenal was so long that he had more than what I did. I spit my one rap, and my tank was empty real fast. He came with two or three after that, and I was like, ‘Here we go.’ But I gave it my best,” Busta told RapFix Live.
Maybe I’m being cynical, but I’m wondering why Busta felt the need to get this off his chest right now, and not when the news of the two of them battling as high schoolers would have been pertinent information (I figure March 2000 would have been the perfect month to announce this). But now, it just seems like Busta reaching for some recognition when his profile couldn’t be lower. Do with this info what you must.
