Authorities say three people were shot at Gardena High School in the Los Angeles area about 10:30 this morning. 

The school remains locked down.  Gardena police, Los Angeles police and L.A. Unified School District police are on scene. 

Police have captured a suspected gunman who may have shot at least three students at a Los Angeles-area high school.  CNN is reporting the suspect was taken into in custody after the shooting at Gardena High School in Gardena, California at 10:30 a.m. Pacific time. 

There are conflicting reports that the shooting may have been accidental.  A student reportedly brought a gun to school in his backpack and dropped it, setting off the gun.  KTLA reports two students were wounded, one critically and one seriously.  All three victims were treated and at least one person was taken to the hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.
