Many people call “The Star Spangled Banner” one of the hardest songs to sing, and Christina Aguilera experienced that first hand.

The pop star had no problem hitting all the high notes before Super Bowl 45 in Arlington, Texas, but she did have a problem remembering all the words.

Aguilera forgot to sing “O’re the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming,” singing “What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last gleaming.” She appeared to have realized her mistake mid-line, and some of the words in that line were hard to understand. But she did regain her footing, finishing with her usual vocal acrobatics just as the fighter jets flew over Cowboys Stadium.

To her credit, she did release a statement of apology about the mistake.

“I got so lost in the moment of the song that I lost my place, I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through,” she said late Sunday.

This just proves this is a tough song to sing. I found a few singers that #Failed in their attemping of singing our national anthem.

Remember this HORRIBLE redition!?
