NEW YORK CITY — At a Community Board meeting last week in East Harlem, police told residents 10 out of 13 public housing developments are being used as hangouts for local gang members.

The news comes after a recent tip from a resident that led police to bust a drug-and-alcohol-filled party where 92 kids were inside an apartment that had no furniture.

NYD.com reports:

Cops said at a Community Board 11 meeting they had identified more than 300 gangbangers throughout East Harlem.

Like much of northern Manhattan, the fight against the growing number of gangs is the biggest problem for East Harlem’s police precincts, the 23rd and the 25th.

Police say the youth gang members range in age from 13 to 21.
