Louisiana police say they received one of their strangest 911 calls in history recently.

The New Orleans “Times-Picayune” reports a motorist dialed the emergency number to complain about the price being charged for gasoline.  The driver called Thursday afternoon claiming a gas station had bumped the price of fuel while he was filling his truck.

The man said he’d pulled into the station and the price on the pump had one reading but while he was filling his tank the price jumped by 14 cents a gallon.  The manager of the station claims what the driver reported simply can’t happen because it’s impossible for the price to change while fuel is flowing from the nozzle.  He said the price might have changed between the time the angry man pulled into the station and the time he began pumping or it might have jumped afterward.

The local sheriff labels the phone call “way out of the ordinary.”
