INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – East coasters aren’t the only ones getting hit by this week’s wintry weather.

Travelers coming to and from the Indianapolis International Airport are facing flight delays and cancellations.

The hardest hit travelers are those traveling through New York LaGuardia and JFK, Newark, Philadelphia, and Baltimore. Other airports to watch out for are Buffalo and Washington, DC. 24 Hour News 8 spoke with travelers stuck at the airport, some of them for more than 12 hours.

Over the past few years airlines have started to cancel more flights instead of delay them due to weather. This change is an effort to free up planes for travel to areas that are not having weather delays.

Travelers are urged to check with their airline before heading out to the airport. you want to change your flight to avoid delays, some airlines are waiving the re-booking fee.
