If you’re browsing the cologne racks looking for a scent sponsored by a popular 80’s R&B singer, don’t expect to find Bobby Brown‘s name on any of the bottles. The king of New Jack Swing says he’s not interested in attaching his name to any colognes.

“I’m not the perfume guy or the guy that puts out the colognes – I’m not that,” Brown told Hip-Hop Weekly. “I don’t need a cologne because my smell is my smell – I don’t wanna sell it. I wanna sell me, and the only one way to do that is to perform, and I believe in my heart and in my soul that I’m the best to ever do it, other than James Brown.”
Bobby Brown will release his first album in 14 years, The Masterpiece, on May 11th.
