Fifty Cent is catching heat for his mocking tweets about tsunami-ravaged Japan.  While he first shared concern about the situation via Twitter, the rapper, known to make controversial statements on occasion, posted a series of follow up tweets that prompted some backlash.  One read, quote, “Look this is very serious people.  I had to evacuate all my hoe’s from LA, Hawaii and Japan.  I had to do it. Lol.”  Fifty later toned down his comedy act, offering, quote, “Some of my tweets are ignorant.  I do it for shock value.  Hate it or love it.  I’m cool either way.”

Comedian Gilbert Gottfried was also criticized for his Twitter mocking of the tragedy.  Gottfried posted 12 related tweets which included comments such as, quote, “I just split up with my girlfriend, but like the Japanese say, ‘They’ll be another one floating by any minute now.'”  His employers weren’t laughing.  Aflac Insurance Company fired Gottfried from his duties as the voice of its duck mascot, saying his comments showed a lack of compassion  —  and humor.
