Indianapolis – Two adults were found dead in an apartment on the city’s west side late Monday morning, and the female victim’s young son was shot in the head.

Police confirm that a four-year-old child was shot once in the head. He is in critical condition at Riley Hospital for Children.

The victims are believed to be the mother of the boy and her boyfriend. Neighbors say the two argued frequently, and a commotion was heard from their apartment overnight.

Police say it was likely a domestic violence situation.

The boy’s father discovered the bodies when he came to the apartment to pick up his son. The child’s father alerted police.

It started as a welfare check. The address is in the 7500 block of West St. Clair Street at the Chapel Hill apartment complex.

This is a developing story. It will be updated as we learn more.
