Reporter Vic Ryckaert of IndyStar reported that Indianapolis prosecutors filed an attempted murder charged against a man accused of setting his girlfriend on fire at an Eastside home.

Quinn Nelson, 31, remained at Marion County Jail, where he’s been held without bond since his arrest.

Prosecutors say Nelson dowsed Rebecca Mumaw with charcoal lighter fluid and set her on fire about 6 a.m. Saturday at a house in the 2900 block of Brookside Avenue.

Mumaw, 47, was in critical condition at Wishard Memorial Hospital with severe burns over 40 percent of her torso and face. A hospital spokesman said today that Mumaw’s family has asked that no information about her condition be released.

Nelson denied causing the injuries, but police say Mumaw told medics that he did it.

A man called 911 to report the attack, claiming his neighbor had been burned. Police say Quinn was carrying the phone that had made that call.

Fox 59 reports that he will be back in court Friday. Quinn Nelson, 31, had a brief hearing Tuesday morning.
