A word of warning to would-be drug dealers: If you forget to lock your cell phone you might get locked up.
Police in Hall County, Ga. say they have apprehended an 18-year-old who “pocket-dialed” 911 while discussing a drug deal.
The incident began at around 1:30 a.m. on May 17 when an emergency dispatcher received a call in which she heard “several individuals talking about a drug transaction involving prescription narcotics,” according to a press release issued by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities “triangulated the cell phone signal,” placing the caller at a Waffle House restaurant on Lanier Islands Parkway, a Hall County Sheriff’s Office source told AOL Weird News.
When a deputy arrived at the eatery and began speaking with staff, the dispatcher reportedly heard the officer’s voice over the suspect’s phone.
The deputy eventually confronted 18-year-old Daniel Moore and informed him that he had been on the phone with 911 operators for several minutes and that officials had recorded his conversation about a drug deal involving prescription medication.
Moore allegedly admitted that his phone had “somehow ‘pocket-dialed’ 911,” the press release notes.
The suspect has been charged with possession of Hydrocodone and Xanax tablets.
