After a near two year stint in prison, the former Giant Wide Reciever was released from the Oneida Correctional Facilty in central New York.

Nine months after helping the New York Giants stun the undefeated New England Patriots in the 2008 Super Bowl, Plaxico Burress found himself behind bars after shooting himself in the thigh with a concealed handgun at a Manhattan nightclub.

After speaking to the media, he said his first order of business was being reunited with his family and that he’s still targeting a return to the field.

“I’d like to thank everybody for their prayers and words of encouragement. I’d like to thank all my fans all around the world for the thousands of letters, for their unwavering support. As far as football is concerned, if and when everything gets settled, when they get back on the field, I’ll be ready.”
