Jamaican-American singer Sean Kingston is said to be making strides in his recovery after a serious jet ski accident late last month.

TMZ.com reports that Kingston is breathing and walking on his own for the first time since the accident.

He still remains under doctor’s care at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. His condition has been upgraded to serious.

The singer suffered a broken jaw and a fractured wrist in the accident. Until Monday morning, he had been attached to a breathing tube. Doctors said last week it could take up to six weeks for Kingston to fully recover.

Meantime, authorities are investigating whether Kingston’s accident may have violated Florida water laws that protects manatee-populated areas. If they determine the singer disturbed local manatees in the area with his watercraft he could face a fine of more than 32-thousand-dollars.
