Imagine a handsome and successful Hollywood executive who brokers multi-million dollar movie deals during the week, and on the weekends is a charismatic preacher who brings souls to Christ.  If it sounds like a pitch for  the latest movie, think again.  Meet DeVon Franklin, VP of Production for Columbia Pictures, whose spearheaded blockbusters like The Pursuit of Happyness, Karate Kid, and recently, Jumping The  Broom. At only 32 years old, Franklin proves that you can reach the top of the corporate ladder without selling your soul to the highest bidder.  In his new book Produced by Faith: Enjoy Real Success Without Losing Your True Self Franklin compares each step of the Hollywood filmmaking process to building one’s faith in order to achieve both professional and spiritual success.

Franklin sat down with The Urban Daily to share his experiences as an intern for Will Smith, what qualities he looks for in a winning script and his hope for the future of black film.

‘Produced By Faith’ is available at all major retail bookstore chains and online.
