SEPTEMBER 12TH IS NATIONAL GRANDPARENTS DAY
WE HONOR EACH OF OUR GRANDPARENTS IN A SPECIAL WAY ALL DAY LONG
Speaking of grandparents, there’d most likely be no parents or even us individually today if it were not for our grandparents paving the way for us. Today, we’re acknowledging all the great things they’ve done for us and all the great things they’ve become to us over the years.
Start your day off in the right direction – with a smile! How do you do that? We’ve got an easy way of celebrating grandparents with a little bit of joy and laughter. How many times have you heard a parent or grandparent raising children say some of these common lines?
“I brought you in this world, and I’ll take you out!”
“My house better be clean when I get home!”
“Hush before I give you something to cry about!”
“You better be back in this house before the street lights come on!”
Yes, if you’ve ever heard some variation of one of those lines, you were obviously raised by black parents and/or black grandparents. Now it’s your turn to submit your favorite old school black parent quotes below on the message board and via Twitter or Facebook. Use our special hashtag #BlackParentQuotes to add to the discussions and find out what we all have in common on National Grandparents Day. (Click the link below or the image above to see what everyone else is saying already.
Take time today to reflect on your favorite and funny moments with your family members. Our prayers, thoughts and best wishes are with each of you who might not have your loved ones, parents or grandparents around anymore for whatever reason. On this day, let this special message continue to comfort you. Enjoy your day! Enjoy each other!
