According to reports from WISHTV.com, a 17-year-old Cathedral High School student shot himself on school grounds this afternoon.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and school officials said the boy is in stable condition at Wishard Memorial Hospital, and the school said no other students, faculty or staff at the school on the city’s northeast side were in danger at any point.
Cathedral High School said in a news release that the student called the school receptionist at about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, saying he planned to harm himself.
The school then called emergency officials, and its own safety personnel went to the area from which the student called.
