The BET Hip-Hop Awards are always a hot topic the day after…however for most of MY conversations it’s “Yo did you hear [nice rappers] verse in that cypher! “HE KILT THAT ISH!!!” That conversations about 20 minutes long if not more. Then we reflect on the past years cypher and who really went in. Then we sit and think of who’s going to do it next year! Then we watch the videos of the Cyphers again…and for the overly ambitious and experimental…go to youtube with you and your friends doing your own cypher for the world to see.
Ask us who won Best New Artist…I don’t know. Ask about Album of The Year….”Probably Lil Wayne or some Young Money Artist” Ask who got the most awards of the night…”I think [various rappers here]. So it leads me to ask the question. “Will BET keep doing the Hip Hip Award Shows?”
TRUE! Hip-Hop Does need a voice and since Violence and negative stigma is attached to The Source and Vibe Awards and most of the Grammy Rap categories don’t get televised this award show is the ONLY current running annual acknowledgement of hip-hop for more than 1 commercial hour. The problem is…The Cyphers are better than the actual show! Its not a “bad thing” but ever since the very first show when Styles P, Lupe Fiasco and Papoose hit the circle for the cypher The Hip Hop Awards have not been the same! The people want more and more.
So I have to ask a question..Would You watch a BET show called “The Cypher”? Not a long drawn out weekly thing but an Annual Show and at the end the people vote on who rocked the cypher the hardest and who had the best overall cypher. Then maybe have a couple performances and recognize some of the legends. Answer the poll below and let me know how you feel.
I really had a few more to post but they have been taken off the internet. Remember Ace Hood, Juelz Santana, Fabolous and Jadakiss? How about Mos Def, Black Thought and Eminem? What about Nicki Minaj, Buckshot, Royale and Joe Budden? Its so many more…I cant name them all…I don’t know about y’all but I’m for the Cypher show!
