Hot 97 Summer Jam has officially wrapped yet the world is buzzing on the controversy that took place.
Hip-Hop Superstar and Crossover sensation Nicki Minaj was dissed by Hot 97 morning show host Peter Rosenberg when he took the stage earlier in the day. He referred to Nicki’s song Starships as BS and that he is there to talk real hip-hop right now to see his rant visit this link.
Hearing the harsh word on the street Lil Wayne took action. Pulling Nicki and ANYONE that was YMCMB off the Summer Jam lineup. He made the announcement via twitter and Nicki followed suit.

Then Funkmaster Flex takes the stage. Speaking down on Nicki indirectly saying “he’s doesn’t “eff” with commercial hip-hop anymore and he is dedicated to tearing her down and ruining her career. His passionate rant didnt make much sense, since he played “Pop Bottles” which is a song with Birdman, Wayne and Jadakiss while being upset.

Now it seems as if the world has divided on this somewhat. On one hand you have people saying “Starships isnt a hip-hop song though” and “He has a right to say what he wants” which is true. The big deal is this….Why book Nicki Minaj to HEADLINE SUMMER JAM! The biggest New York Hip-Hop event..if you dont think her or her song is hip-hop? That makes no sense. Hot 97 throws this every year and they ask who THEY THINK are the best representations of hip-hop to be apart of it.
I feel Wayne played this perfectly. It’s not like Nicki or anybody on YMCMB was getting paid to be there. They wont get sued for a day of pull out and overall the people who put on the show ruined the show. The fans who love YMCMB LOST last night and they are going to blame Peter Rosenberg…Not Wayne and Nicki.
Also…I wouldn’t let you diss one of my artist and let her hop on stage and make your event live either. There is a little something in this world called respect and the status quo of Hot 97 in regards to Nicki Minaj is to show her absolutely no respect but, y’all want her headlining your show? Bogus
Let this had been 2005 and Rosenberg said “Candy Shop” is BS and not hip-hop.
Let this had been 2001-2003 and he said something about Dipset not being hip-hop.
Let this had been 1999 and he said he thought EVE song was BS and the Ruff Ryders were listed as headliners….Rosenberg would be in ICU right now and Flex would be requesting prayers for his radio fam during his show tonight.
