More than 12,000 Indianapolis Public school (IPS) students may be late arriving home this afternoon.
A job action involving bus drivers working for Durham School Services, a contractor responsible for transporting half of IPS students, is the cause for the delays for students today. Durham School Services is based in Warrenville, Ill., and serves 450 school districts in 32 states.
Parents can call the IPS Transportation Communication Center at 317-226-4500.
Depending on routes and the availability of qualified replacements, students could be delayed by two hours.

Fox 59 reports, Durham School Services released a statement Friday afternoon.
“State changes to unemployment benefits are the cause behind employee frustration. Durham has no control over determinations made by the state. We support our employees in obtaining unemployment benefits,” the statement read.
“It is unfortunate some bus drivers are not showing up for work and putting their interests ahead of the well-being of the students. We remain committed to the students of Indianapolis, and are working hard this afternoon with the School District to get all students home safely.“
