Just a few months removed from an appearance in the NBA Finals, the Oklahoma City Thunder (OKC) have traded Sixth Man of the Year and the third of their “Big 3″ James Harden to the Houston Rockets. Ofcourse Harden was more known for his scraggly beard than his game in the Finals, but that wasn’t the reason he was shipped out according to reports.

Harden and OKC brass could not agree on a long term contract extension. I think the Finals disappearing act made it easier to cut ties. OKC did not get any scrubs in return. The Thunder receives perennial 20 point per game scorer Kevin Martin and rookie UConn standout Jeremy Lamb along with draft picks while Harden gets to run with Jeremy Lin. OKC star Kevin Durant simply tweeted “Wow”. Indeed.

Do you think trading James Harden takes Oklahoma City out of the conversation for best teams in the Western Conference?
