Facebook Launches Social Job App

A year-old partnership between Facebook, the U.S. Department of Labor, the National Association of Colleges and Employers, DirectEmployers Association, and the National Association of State Workforce Agencies has resulted in the Social Jobs App on the world’s largest social network.

At launch, the app boasts over 1.7 million job openings.

Marne Levine, Facebook’s vice president for global public policy, discussed the launch of the Social Jobs App with PC World:

“Facebook is all about connecting people, and we’re thrilled to see developers leveraging our platform to connect job seekers and prospective employers. By allowing job seekers to view and share job openings based on personalized criteria, like location and industry, the Social Jobs Application builds on our broader effort to help people use social media to find jobs in the U.S.”

Is Facebook looking to steal momentum from professional social network LinkedIn? Currently, Facebook job search is free while LinkedIn offers paid accounts with more options for job seekers and recruiters. In comparison, the Social Jobs App is a marketplace of job listings from other sites.

Multitasking basically has just gotten slightly easier. You can now poke females on Facebook while searching for a new gig.

Start your job search today with Facebook’s Social Jobs App here.
