The thought of a third-string rapper getting a reality show because he was irresponsible enough to have 11 children with 10 different women sent chills and shock waves through the Black community. Most prayed it was a sick prank, but Shawty Lo, his children, and baby mamas do exist. The cable network Oxygen thought their lifestyle was unique and wanted to film it for a reality show.
Once news broke about the new show Oxygen was developing, people were outraged and petitioned for the show to be cancelled before it aired. A petition on Change.org amassed over 40,000 signatures and for a split second it looked as if Oxygen would cave underneath the pressure after writer Allison Samuels posted an article on The Daily Beast saying she had sources who stated the cable network was soon to announce “All My Babies’ Mamas” wouldn’t ever see the light of day. However, according to an Oxygen Network rep, Samuels’ sources are incorrect.
The unidentified Oxygen representative spoke exclusively to AllHipHop.com, “This rumor is simply untrue. The project remains in early development.” Apparently, Shawty Lo’s “All My Babies’ Mamas” is still scheduled to air sometime in May.
We posed the question to our readers if they would watch the show if it ever made it to air. 63% answered with a resounding “HELL NO!” Despite the number of anti-Shawty Lo ratchet reality, that still leaves a decent sized amount of people who would watch the show. Which group do you include yourself in? How far are you willing to go to keep “All My Baby Mamas” off the air?
