Songs from the late Tupac Shakur will hit the Broadway stage in the upcoming musical Holler If Ya Hear Me, which will officially premiere at the Palace Theater in New York City on June 19.
“Tupac is a prophet and I want everyone to see that. [Holler If Ya Hear Me] is a present-day musical using all of Tupac’s music, but Tupac is not a character in the musical,” the show’s director, Kenny Leon, told Broadway.com.
The show is instead a tale of “friendship, family, revenge, change and hope,” according to a statement released by the show’s producers.
Shakur was murdered in 1996, when we was just 25.
