Rapper DMX is on his way to jail. DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was sentenced Tuesday in a Phoenix courtroom.

MyFoxPhoenix.com reports that “X” has been handed 20 months of “intensive” probation along with six months in jail to begin immediately.

However, TMZ.com reports that “Celebrity Rehab” coach Dr. Drew Pinsky may be handing the rapper a “Hail Mary” pass.
A representative from Pinsky’s Pasadena Recovery Center was also in the courtroom with a letter from the famed doctor himself.
The letter asked the judge to give permission for DMX to be treated under his care in California. That would save DMX from serving his six months on Arizona soil under the watchful eye of “America’s Toughest Sheriff,” Joe Arpaio. DMX has reportedly admitted to five different probation violations that were connected to illegal drug use.
