DrakeMicSunday night Drake won Best Hip-Hop Video for “Hold On, We’re Going Home” at the 2014 VMAs. He wasn’t in Cali to collect the award, so instead he gave his acceptance speech on Monday during the “Drake Vs. Lil Wayne” tour stop in Boston.

Following an intro from Weezy, Drake thanked Common, who presented his award at the VMAs.

“First of all, I want to thank God,” he said. “I’d like to also thank my mother ’cause I love her very much. I’d also like to thank Lil Wayne because none of this would be possible without that man right there.” Drake also dropped a jab at a few people and possibly a few artists that hated the VMA winner, “And I’d also like to say, I know this is a hip-hop award and I know a lot of you out there are frustrated, like this is not a hip-hop song. You’re right, I tricked you all. Rappers better luck next year. Thank you!”
