SImone Battle

Simone Battle, 25, an X Factor finalist and G.R.L. singer, was found dead Friday in her West Hollywood apartment.

Battle’s death has been called a suicide in various media reports, including the Mirror UK, which reports that she was found hanged in her home.

Battle who was a finalist on “The X Factor” in 2011 season, was a member of the girl group G.R.L, founded by Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin.

The group collaborated on the song “Wild Wild Love” with Pitbull, who released the following statement via Twitter:

According to KTLA, “She grew up in Los Angeles, singing in a church choir, studying ballet and tap, modeling and acting in television commercials before working an internship with a company associated with the Black Eyed Peas. “We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the loss of Simone Battle of G.R.L. Simone was an exceptional young talent and human being, and we are all devastated to learn of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones at this time,” Reign Deer Entertainment, Robin Antin, Kemosabe Records, and RCA Records told ETOnline.com. G.R.L. posted the following statement on Twitter:

Battle’s father, Anthony Battle, told TMZ that he had not spoken with his daughter recently, but they texted frequently and he was unaware of any depression that she may have been suffering from, though, “It’s possible she may have had an invisible disability.”
