This is the white rapper we’ve been wanting since Eminem. Yes, the DMV ‘s own Logic. Not that his flow or style is anything like Ems’. But the talent, the actual ability to rap, is what they have in common. If you weren’t a believer from his previous mixtapes, Logic proved himself worthy on his debut Def Jam release, “Under Pressure.”

Yeah, some will say he sounds like Kendrick Lamar, and I agree. You can hear the influence in his voice. But, he has a different story to tell. The authenticity is felt when you listen to his music.  It’s not many artists today whose song I want to listen to for more than four minutes. Yet somehow I listened to track 11 “Under Pressure”, a 9 minute and 19 second song about life and the stress that comes with it, from beginning to end, bobbing my head the whole way through.

Executive produced by No I.D., “Under Pressure” is the perfect introduction to the 24-year-old rapper from Gaithersburg, MD. The overall picture I get from this album is someone who is in fact what the title says – under pressure. Fast-forwarding from the hardships Logic overcame growing up, he now faces a much different challenge – fame.

Listen to the album below to hear his story through his rhymes.
