No more Mr. Nice Guy.

It’s no secret that Blake Griffin is one of the NBA’s most explosive big men in the league. The Clippers star power forward has the ability to turn a game completely around with one of his powerful dunks. And although he’s drastically raised his game over the last two seasons, there’s always been one knock on the Lob City star: he isn’t tough enough. Countless opposing big men would attempt to bate Blake into an on-court confrontation, just because they felt he might be a little “soft”.

Welp, it looks like things are about to change. ESPN and TMZ are reporting that Griffin is now facing misdemeanor battery charges for an incident at a Tao Nightclub in Las Vegas. In a filing in the Clark County District Attorney‘s office, the NBA star “willfully and unlawfully used force or violence” on a man named Daniel Shuman on October 19. Apparently Shuman was taking unwanted photos of Blake, which allegedly resulted in Griffin squeezing Shuman’s hand and shoulder and/or slapping him in the face. The star forward also demanded that Daniel hand over his phone.

If convicted, Blake faces six months in jail and/or possible fine of $1,000. His arraignment is set for December 8, before a Las Vegas justice of the peace. This is Griffin’s first off-court incident, and he doesn’t have any prior convictions for violent crimes.

More than likely, this won’t be a story in a few weeks. However, it looks like the superstar has finally put the league on notice.
