At the 72nd Annual Golden Globe awards, Selma made history. Ava DuVernay is the director of the film “Selma” and was the first African-American woman nominated in the best director category, for the historical drama about the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and the civil rights marches of Selma, Ala. The film is set to premier in theaters everywhere on Christmas Day.
