So D’Angelo just gon’ slide up in our playlists like…

Just in time for the holidays, D’Angelo joins the growing list of artists dropping music this month and gifts fans with Black Messiah, his first album in 14 years! With the exception of a cryptic 15-second teaser tweeted out by manager Kevin Liles, there was zero promotion for D’Angelo’s latest project- not that he needed it the way fans were in a frenzy once the album went live at midnight on Monday.

Good enough to make you focus on the body of work (and not just the body of the man), the sultry singer recruits the assistance of longtime collaborators, DJ Questlove and Q-‘Tip, to create a 12-track collective of both memorable and feel-good music. Songs vary in theme from romance to race relations, with an added live-music feel courtesy of his band, “The Vanguard.”
