If you’re one of the more than 10 million Americans that get the blues in the winter, Klassik’s EP might be just what the doctor ordered.

WINTER EP is representative of just that- winter. A period of harshness marked for so many by isolation, depression, and frustration. And while that is certainly evoked, listeners won’t find themselves inflicted by those same burdening emotions as they make their way through the EP. The lively, intricate beats will tell you stories and paint you pictures without trapping you in them. In the end, WINTER EP reaches forward in hope, instead of wallowing in the emotions that ground it.

Klassik’s WINTER EP is instantly reminiscent of the 90s, with a soft glow of the future of hip-hop. The three-tracked EP is lacking in absolutely nothing, yet still leaves us wanting more Klassik on our iPods and blasting through our speakers. The Milwaukee rapper’s flow is unapologetic in its versatility and perfection. The texture of his voice, with a raspy quality similar to Chance The Rapper or Kendrick Lamar, blends perfectly into the robust musical surroundings at some points, and stands out boldly over them at others. The songs run courses that never leave you disinterested in or even used to the sounds that are occurring.

Klassik has opened up for Kendrick Lamar, Ludacris, Talib Kweli, MKTO and Asher Roth, and he has performed at Summerfest and SXSW. Klassik’s sound, while influenced by greats like John Coltrane and Kanye West, is all his own. Still, fans of artists like Kendrick, Childish Gambino, Frank Ocean, and Pharrell may find themselves bumping Klassik’s WINTER EP, as well as prior releases, such as “This Is That New” and “Boogie,” which we suggest you download ASAP so you have something to listen to the next time you’re getting all dressed up for a night out on the town. The stylish music video for “Boogie” (and a link to a free download) can be found below.

WINTER EP is available now on Bandcamp. The rest of the rapper’s (impressively lengthy) discography can be streamed and, in some cases, even downloaded for free on Soundcloud. Get to it! Plus, be sure to show Klassik some love on Twitter, Instagram, Youtube and Facebook so you know where to find him the next time he graces the stage (or drops some more hot music).
