Tyrese dropped his recent album Black Rose late last month, and within the first week, it went to no. 1 on the charts.

Despite the amazing accomplishment, the R&B crooner’s hit single “Shame,” off the project, has received zero airplay from mainstream radio stations.

As fans are left confused, Tyrese has been expressing his concerns by peacefully protesting radio stations, including Ryan Seacrest and Elvis Duran‘s shows.

Still without any airplay, he penned an open letter to the two hosts on his Facebook, which definitely brought up some important issues, such as pondering whether he would get radio play if he was a white singer.

Tyrese began the letter by congratulating the two on their accomplishments in radio, and even pledging to discuss the issues in a peaceful manner:

I love you both and I’m so proud of all that you’ve accomplished! You both happen to be some of the BIGGEST and most influential Mainstream radio hosts. I’m simply posing some specific questions and it’s NOT just to you but to ALL MAINSTREAM RADIO STATIONS IN GENERAL..

He then continued and made his argument:

How is it possible that urban radio plays Robin Thicke, Justin Timberlake and Sam Smith ( When they release R&B Soul records and when we’re singing in the EXACT same genre, WE don’t get ANY love on the other side…?? Sam Smith won a BET award and was a no-show – is that ok?

As artists…. Other than Robin Thicke.. Are you guys interested in doing any radio promo? Call ins? Meet and greets with the fans for those Urban Radio Spins?? Do you have any idea how HARD it is to get your songs ON Urban radio?? Or to land a BET nomination? We have to work our ASSES OFF for every spin! ‪#‎SHAME‬ ft Jennifer Hudson needs to be HEARD by people ALL AROUND the WORLD!!!! And I won’t stop or rest until we get there….

Tyrese concludes the letter by vowing to never convert his single into a techno or electronic version just to get radio play. To read his full letter, head over to his Facebook page.
