Carlos Anthony Hollins, 20, was arrested for sending out a tweet threatening to kill all of the White people in his town of La Plata, Maryland.

Hollins tweeted the message on Wednesday, followed with a Black Lives Matter hashtag. Reports the New York Daily News:

“I’M NOT GONNA STAND FOR THIS NO. MORE, Hollins, who is black, allegedly tweeted. “TONIGHT WE PURGE! KILL ALL THE WHITE PPL IN THE TOWN OF LA PLATA.”

After he sent the tweet, police officers arrested Collins at his home in Waldorf, Md. He is being charged with threats of mass violence.

According to NY Daily News, a Maryland police officer said:

“A Maryland man’s public threat to “purge” and “kill all the white people” in his town has landed him behind bars.”

The police department has sent out extra officers to keep watch over the area.

It may sound odd to some that a social media message can land you in jail, but people have been arrested for tweets before. Meanwhile, the tweet brings negative attention to the Black Lives Matter movement, which has come under scrutiny after Minnesota members chanted “Pigs in a blanket. Fry ’em like bacon!” in regards to police officers during a state fair.
