The events leading up to the death of a teenager from Normandy, Missouri has left many asking whether the young man was suicidal, or if he was fatally shot by police officers.

The shooting occurred Wednesday afternoon when police were called to aid an alleged suicidal teenager, identified as Amonderez P. GreenThe Huffington Post reports. The 18-year-old was reportedly threatening to kill himself when Normandy police arrived on the scene. Witnesses claim Ferguson police were also present.

When officers attempted to speak to him, he allegedly removed a gun from his waistband and began firing at them. After deploying a Taser to no effect, the officers returned fire, the department said.

The teen fled, and another gunshot was heard out of the officers’ sight, according to the statement. The officers then reportedly found him on the ground, unresponsive.

Green’s father alleges Ferguson police shot his son, while other witnesses claim it was Normandy police.

The Normandy Police Department insists the fatal shot to Green’s face was not from their officers.

A woman who wished to remain anonymous told reporters the officers chased Green near her home. She says the teen was turning around to face police when he was shot.

The Huffington Post reports:

“We heard approximately six gunshots ring out. I yelled and told my daughter to get down,” she said. “He was right at eye level as [the officer] shot him,” the witness continued. “It was not a suicide. At all.”

More witnesses have come forward with videos and photos from the scene, painting different vantage points of the shooting. The victim’s mother can be heard in the video below painfully screaming, “Don’t kill my son.”

Dominique Clemons also talked to The Huffington Post and echoed the statements of her Normandy neighbors.

“While he was running, he turned around to face the police and that’s when he got shot in the face,” Clemons said. “I saw his body drop. They shot him in the face, his whole right side of his face was gone, his top lip was gone.”

The presence of Ferguson officers was questioned on Wednesday. The City of Ferguson’s Twitter account confirmed the officers were present, but did not fire at Green.
