It is with sadness and grief that the family announces the passing of beloved Hoosier and Hall of Fame Broadcaster Amos C. Brown, III. Mr. Brown collapsed on Friday, November 6, 2015 at his family home in Chicago. Arrangements are pending.
Here are some Statements and reactions from the city of Indianapolis in regards to the news of Amos Browns passing.

A City is identified and driven by the depth and passion of our leader’s Civic commitment. Amos Brown was large among them. During Amos’s entire life he exemplified true passion and caring for the City of Indianapolis and definitively for the Community he loved to serve.

INDIANAPOLIS – Earlier today, news broke that Amos Brown, longtime Indianapolis community leader and radio host at WLTC had passed away. After learning this news, Glenda Ritz, Indiana’s Superintendent of Public Instruction issued the following statement.
“I was shocked and saddened to learn of Amos’ passing this afternoon. He, his family, and his friends are in my thoughts and prayers.
“I was lucky enough to appear on his show numerous times. Regardless of the subject, I always enjoyed his interviews. I was always struck that every time I went on his show, I would leave with the name and phone number of one of his listeners that needed help in some manner or another. Amos always made it a point to ensure that his listeners got the help they needed from their elected leaders and his presence will be greatly missed.
“Amos and I also served together on Indiana’s Education Roundtable for a time. There is no doubt that he was an excellent voice and advocate for his community. Indiana needs more leaders like Amos.” – Superintendent Ritz

When I took over the duties of Technical Producer for Afternoons with Amos last August , I had no idea what I was getting myself into. In my mind, I approached this like any other talk show to produce…Wrong.
5 mins til 1pm I walk into the AM1310 studio, Amos would sit behind his mic with a bag of chips or cookies and a large Dr. Pepper ready to go.
This is indeed a lost for the Radio One Indianapolis family
