From fighting and “shaking tables” on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, K. Michelle is striving to turn over a new leaf. The “Rebellious Soul” singer is the latest celebrity to not only endorse Hillary Clinton for president, K. is actively campaigning for Hillary on the campuses of HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges & Universities).
K. is an alumna of FAMU (Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University). She was initially attending school on a music scholarship which she lost after leaving for a year to have her son, Chase. K. eventually went back and graduated, but she shared that her parents struggled to pay for her to finish school.
During an introductory speech for Clinton, the singer said that she chose to endorse the former Secretary of State because she wanted to make education affordable.
In an Instagram post K. shared that she’s committed to pay for a student name Jasmine‘s college education as long as she maintains her grades.
K. may also have a political career in her future as the reality star shared that her next chapter includes attending law school, opening a restaurant and producing two television shows.
Despite the singer’s latest accomplishments, we’re also in the middle of season 2 of her reality show “My Life” where we’ve already seen K. get candid about having an abortion with her on-again-off-again boyfriend Bobby Maze who she caught on the latest episode cheating on her with a girl he met on Instagram.
Trolls definitely didn’t forget these tidbits when they commented on her Hillary posts, “Lol what a joke. Well you will be able to keep on getting those abortions with Clinton in office” Many people also used K.’s comments to bring up Hillary being “pro black” when it was “convenient” for her in saying that the former Senator supported mass incarceration in 90s.
K. Michelle’s transformation is admirable. While she still seems a little rough around the edges, she’s one of the rare people that have been able to spin her 15 minutes of fame into a viable career.
We wonder if her brand could survive not being on TV? Nene Leakes tried it then ran right back to RHOA. While we understand everything K.’s gone through is probably similar to the lives of most women in their 20s and 30s, if she wants to continue to be taken seriously, especially as someone rallying for a political candidate she may want to hang up her reality TV hat because it can seem contradicting. Or is it? People that watch reality TV are voters too!
