Drug Kingpin Joaquin 'Chapo' Guzman Recaptured in Mexico

Mexico’s most infamous drug lord, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán, is ready to be extradited to the US. El Chapo claims his conditions are so unbearable at the current Mexican prison he is in that he fears his health will decline. Chapo made headlines last year after escaping from prison and attempting to make a biopic about his life — which ultimately tipped off officials to his location and lead to his arrest. According to officials, in order for El Chapo’s extradition to be expedited, he must drop the massive number of appeals he and his lawyers have in place. His lawyers are also negotiating for lighter sentence and a stay at a medium-security prison. The story is still developing. [USA Today]
