Elevator doors

This is tragic and terrifying.

The body of a 43-year-old woman has been discovered in an elevator in China where she was trapped for one month. According to Mashable, the victim became trapped on January 30 after power was cut to the malfunctioning elevator. Shortly after, workers left for an extended Chinese New Year break.

Upon their return on March 1, they opened the elevator and were confronted with the disturbing scene. The woman reportedly left scratch marks on the walls before her death from starvation. Police say she suffered mental illness and was living alone, which might explain the lack of inquiry into her absence.

Two have been arrested and charged with manslaughter for “gross negligence,” since they failed to check if anyone was inside before departing for holiday.
