93.5 KDAY Presents Krush Groove

Snoop Dogg has never been one to keep quiet about how he feels, and judging by his Instagram posts on Monday, he’s had enough.

The rapper went on an IG rant about boycotting the remake of the classic Roots miniseries and how he wants his fans to do the same. “I’m sick of this s–t. How the f–k are they going to put ‘Roots’ on, on Memorial Day. They going to just keep beating that s- -t into our heads about how they did us, huh?’’ he exclaimed.

It didn’t stop there; Snoop went on to diss 12 Years a Slave, saying those sorts of films “keep showing the abuse we took hundreds and hundreds of years ago. Let’s create our own s- -t based on today, how we live and how we inspire people today.’’

Just before Snoop’s social media blow-up, LeVar Burton, Roots co-executive producer who originally played Kunta Kinte, told USA Today that the remake was needed as part of a national discussion.

“We are clearly engaged in the conversation in America and it’s one where everybody needs to be involved. If you are living in America right now, then the story of slavery is relevant to you, because it’s shaped the country and the culture in which you live, whether you want to admit that or not,” he said.

Roots premiered on Monday as a four-night series on the History, A&E, and Lifetime channels.
