Sean “Diddy” Combs feels Black voters have been “shortchanged” by the Obama presidency in a Sunday interview on MSNBC with Rev. Al Sharpton. Combs said politicians need to understand the power of the Black vote and offered a strategy to evoke political action and change. “Make them come for our vote. It’s a whole different strategy, but I think we need to hold our vote because I don’t believe any of them,” he said. Combs did say he thought President Obama has done a wonderful job, but wants more – especially in regards to Black voters who are crucial in the upcoming election. “He’s done an excellent job, you know, but I think it’s time to turn up the heat, because the black vote is going to decide who is the next president of the United States,” Combs said. Serena Williams Sets New Record With 308 Grand Slam Wins

Serena Williams captured a record-setting win at the 2016 U.S. Open to surpass Roger Federer’s record of 307 Grand Slam victories. Williams beat opponent Yaroslava Shvedova and will advance to the quarterfinals round on Wednesday at Arthur Ashe Stadium to play against number five seed, Simona Halep of Romania. “It’s a huge number,” she said in reference to her win. “I think that’s very significant, actually. Philippine President Apologizes For Explosive Reference To President Obama

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte released an apologetic statement after calling President Obama a “son of a bitch” on Monday. In response, the Obama administration canceled a Tuesday meeting between the two. Duterte said he regretted that the remark “came across as a personal attack on the US President.” Duterte became enraged when he learned Obama would confront him in regards to his handling of drug dealers and extrajudicial killings. Women’s Soccer Player Megan Rapinoe Takes A Knee To Support Kaepernick

Soccer player Megan Rapinoe decided to kneel during the National Anthem at Sunday night’s game against the Chicago Red Stars, expressing solidarity with San Francisco 49ers player Colin Kaepernick. The Seattle Reign player says she understands why Kaepernick spoke out. As a White, gay woman, she said, “I have stood with my hand over my heart during the national anthem and felt like I haven’t had my liberties protected, so I can absolutely sympathize with that feeling.” Rapinoe also stated that she was “disgusted” with the media’s spin on the story and will continue to kneel along with Kaepernick. Read more.


Ben Carson Awkwardly Interrupts Live Interview To Find His Luggage

Ben Carson returned to his childhood home of Detroit with GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump on Sunday to support the candidate as he made his pitch to Black voters at Great Faith Ministries International Church. After Trump’s speech, Carson made a pit stop in his old stomping grounds to visit his childhood home. As CNN reporter Jeremy Diamond interviewed Carson regarding the events of the day and the current state of Detroit, Carson interrupted, exclaiming in shock, “Oh! My Luggage! Hold On.” He then walked off camera in the middle of Diamond’s question. He eventually returned, but not without a bit of awkwardness. Read more.
