The public is closely divided in their opinions on the new Erykah Badu video, but the majority don’t like her clip for “Window Seat.”

According to a People.com poll, 58-percent think the singer went “too far,” and the video is, quote, “nothing but salacious shock value.”  However, 42-percent believe the Badu clip is, quote, “bold, interesting, and artsy.”

In the video, which debuted on her website over the weekend, Badu is seen walking the streets of Dallas, shedding her clothes as she strolls.  After taking a few steps naked, with the word “EVOLVING” printed on her back, the singer is shot in the head and collapses — near the site where President John Kennedy was assassinated in 1963.  Animated letters that spell the word “groupthink” then leak from her head.

Badu says the clip is about personal development.  She recently told “The Dallas Morning News,” quote, “The song ‘Window Seat’ is about liberating yourself from layers and layers of skin or demons that are a hindrance to your growth or freedom, or evolution,” and added, quote, “I tied it in a way that compared the assassination to the character assassination one would go through after showing his or herself completely.”
