UK rapperM.I.A. decided to use Hov’s high-profile appearance to do a little promotion of her own. A plane with a digital display hovered above the crowd, announcing a June 29 release date for the eclectic rapper’s third studio album.
“New album 6.29.10.” was displayed on the scrolling ticker, in addition to dates for the upcoming HARD music festival in Los Angeles and New York this summer, where M.I.A. will perform. For both the Aug. 7 show in the Los Angeles State Park and the Aug. 21 performance in New York,N.E.R.D., Major Lazer and M.I.A.’s protégé Rye Rye will join her on stage.
